WAKE UP THE MIGHTY MAN IN YOU

Key Passage: Judges 6: 12-14

And the Angel of the LORD appeared to him, and said to him, "The LORD is with you, you mighty man of valor!” Gideon said to Him, "O my lord, if the LORD is with us, why then has all this happened to us? And where are all His miracles which our fathers told us about, saying, ‘Did not the LORD bring us up from Egypt?’ But now the LORD has forsaken us and delivered us into the hands of the Midianites.” Then the LORD turned to him and said, "Go in this might of yours, and you shall save Israel from the hand of the Midianites. Have I not sent you?”

There is power in you as a believer in Christ Jesus to prevail over the kingdom of darkness. The Scripture says, “He who is in you is greater than he who is in the world” (1 Jn 4:4). When a person accepts the Lord Jesus into his heart, the Holy Spirit comes and indwells him. That Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God. He carries the omnipotent power of God and releases it to those who believe in Jesus Christ. You need to recognize he that is in you and believe in his power to give you victory over the Devil and his agents.

Gideon was in a dilemma because he did not recognize the power of God at work in him. His nation was in a crisis situation. They were conquered, terrorized, oppressed and impoverished by the Midianites. It seemed God was dead and the stories of His miraculous works were mere fairy tales. Then did Gideon see an angel whose salutation seemed ironic: “The Lord is with you, you mighty man of valor!” (Jg 6:12). Gideon was bewildered by such a salutation coming at such a time, and to such a man as himself who was the least in a poor family and from an unpopular tribe. But God demonstrated by that salutation that He saw in Gideon what he did not see in himself. God saw in him a conqueror, a giant-killer, a mighty warrior and a deliverer for His people.

There is a mighty man in you as a child of God, though you may not recognize him. The Scripture says, “For whatever is born of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world—our faith” (1 Jn 5:4). “You are My battle-ax and weapons of war” (Jere 51: 20). The Lord is calling you to wake up, put on the whole armor of God and declare war against the kingdom of darkness. Shake yourself from the dust; arise and begin to demonstrate the power of God to bring you victory in all your situations. Arise in prayer and spiritual warfare. Decree a thing and it shall be established for you (Job 22:28). Prophesy to the dry bones that they may live. Prophesy to the mountains, the hills, the rivers, the valleys and every situation around you to respond to the sovereign will of God (Ezek 36:6). Do not back out of the battle-line. Stand and assert your victory and it shall be well with you.

Pray:Lord, I receive power and grace from You to overcome; and I proclaim my victory through faith in Christ Jesus. Amen.
