Six Steps to a Glorious Life
|
|
You need to take six simple steps to start an intimate and personal relationship with God.
1. Recognize that God is Holy.
He is pure from sin and hates it absolutely. He cannot tolerate sin in the life
of anyone who would want to relate with Him. But as He who called you is holy,
you also be holy in all your conduct, because it is written,
"Be holy, for I am holy (1 Pet 1:15-16).
Nevertheless the solid foundation of God stands, having this seal:
The Lord knows those who are His, and, Let everyone who names the
name of Christ depart from iniquity (2 Tim 2:19).
2. Acknowledge Your Sins Before God.
No one in this world can truthfully say that he has not sinned.
The human nature is weak to temptations, and as a result people
sin against God in one way or the other.
God knows this weakness of the human nature and is ready to
forgive anyone who acknowledges his sins and repents from them.
For all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God (Rom 3:23).
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us (1 John 1:8).
For He knows our frame; He remembers that we are dust (Ps 103:14).
3. Repent from your sins.
You need to turn away from your sins and resolve not to return to them.
That resolve is the true proof that you desire to have a personal
intimate relationship with a holy God.
Truly, these times of ignorance God overlooked, but now commands all men everywhere to repent (Act 17:30).
Now when they heard this, they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest
of the apostles, Men and brethren, what shall we do? Then Peter said to them, Repent,
and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission
of sins (Act 2:37-38).
"Repent therefore and be converted, that your sins may be blotted out, so that times
of refreshing may come from the presence of the Lord (Acts 3:19).
4. Recognize that Jesus is the Son of God.
God sent Him into the world to save all mankind from their sins and from the power of Satan,
and reconcile man to God. Jesus is the only way to God, and the blood he shed on the cross
of Calvary cleanses whoever believes in him from every sin.
For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in
Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the
world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. He who
believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already,
because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God (Jn 3:16-18).
Jesus said to him, I am the way, the truth, and the life. No one comes to the Father
except through Me (Jn 14:6).
Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom
of his dear Son: In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins (Col 1:13-14).
5. Receive Jesus into your heart by faith.
Pray and ask him to come into your heart and be your personal Lord and Savior. That is what
makes you a born-again Christian and entitles you the glorious life of the children of God.
That if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God
has raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto
righteousness, and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation (Rom 10:9-10).
To all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to
become children of God (NIV Jn 1:12).
6. Begin to live a changed life.
As a born-again Christian, you now have a new life. You should not go back to your
old life style of sin, but you should now live a life of righteousness in line
with the will of God. You should seek to know God better by studying the word
of God, and relate with him personally through prayers, praises and worship.
When you have done these, then you have began to live the
glorious life of the children of God.
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have
passed away; behold, all things have become new (2 Corinth 5:17).
If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above,
where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. Set your mind on things above,
not on things on the earth. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ
in God (Col 3:1-3).
