COME AND
SEE MY ZEAL FOR GOD
Key Passage: 2
Kings 10: 15-17
Now when he departed from there, he met Jehonadab
the son of Rechab, coming to meet him; and he greeted him and said
to him, "Is your heart right, as my heart is toward your heart?” And
Jehonadab answered, "It is.” Jehu said, "If it
is, give me your hand.” So he gave him his hand, and he took
him up to him into the chariot. Then he said, "Come with me,
and see my zeal for the LORD.” So they had him ride in his
chariot. And when he came to Samaria, he killed all who remained
to Ahab in Samaria, till he had destroyed them, according to the
word of the LORD which He spoke to Elijah.
The challenges of soul winning and reclaiming the
kingdom of this world from the dominion of Satan calls for the people
of God to wake up from slumber and serve God with zeal and fervency.
The demand of the Great Commission cannot be met with the kind of lethargy
and lukewarmness that is prevalent in the Church today. In this end-time,
God is raising an army of believers who not only has the Kingdom vision
and anointing, but who also has the driving force for exploits. That
is an army of warriors with “fire in their bones” who would
not turn their backs to the enemy, but who would press on in the fight
until the kingdom of darkness is crushed and Jesus enthroned in the
lives of men.
Jehu was a young commander who led the revolution that overthrew the
dynasty of King Ahab and Queen Jezebel in Israel. When he was anointed
King of Israel, Jehu went on a swift mission to execute the judgment
pronounced by Prophet Elijah on the family of Ahab for their wickedness,
idolatry and witchcraft. He killed King Joram the son of Ahab and Jezebel.
He went on to destroy all the members of the royal family and their
allies. He was determined to crush all that remained of Ahab’s
dynasty and the institution of Baal worship in the land. He needed
help and found it in Jehonadab the son of Rechab, a proselyte that
had the fear of God and was zealous for the reestablishment of true
worship in Israel. Jehu took him into his team and they went and succeeded
in their mission.
God is seeking people like Jehu and Jehonadab who are consumed by
the zeal of the Lord’s house (Ps 69:9). He is seeking people
who will steer a spiritual revolution that will overturn the spate
of corruption, immorality, perversion, wickedness and Satanism that
is pervading our world today. He is seeking those that will be ready
to stake their lives, comfort, reputation and resources for the restoration
of righteousness, justice and truth in their lands. The Psalmist says, “Your
troop will be willing on your day of battle” (NIV Ps 110:3).
It will take total commitment and absolute surrender to the will of
God. God will help us when give ourselves willingly and we will surely
have the victory.
Pray: Lord,
help me to get out of my comfort zone and step out into the battle
ground and do exploits for Your Kingdom
