WHERE ARE
ALL THE MIRACLES?
Key Passage: Judges
6: 1-2, 12-13
Then the children of Israel did evil in the sight
of the LORD. So the LORD delivered them into the hand of Midian
for seven years, and the hand of Midian prevailed against Israel.
Because of the Midianites, the children of Israel made for themselves
the dens, the caves, and the strongholds which are in the mountains.
And the Angel of the LORD appeared to him, and said to him, "The
LORD is with you, you mighty man of valor!” Gideon said to
Him, "O my lord, if the LORD is with us, why then has all
this happened to us? And where are all His miracles which our fathers
told us about, saying, ‘Did not the LORD bring us up from
Egypt?’ But now the LORD has forsaken us and delivered us
into the hands of the Midianites.”
We are in a time when many hearts are despairing,
seeking for help and finding none. Many are living under harsh economic
conditions. There are not many good jobs. Cost of living is rising.
Some families are living under constant fear because of creditors.
Some have sick folks in their homes but cannot afford to take them
to the hospital. Some prayed for loved ones, yet they died. Many have
waited for too long for help, and it seems God is far away. And they
are asking, “Where are all the miracles”
Miracles are real and they manifest the faithfulness and the power
of God. God desires to help His people. He wants to intervene in our
situations and give us hope where there is none, and deliver us from
our distresses. But the Scripture says, “Behold, the LORD’S
hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; nor His ear heavy, that
it cannot hear. But your iniquities have separated you from your God;
and your sins have hidden His face from you, so that He will not hear” (Is
59:1-2).
The main problem in our time is not the lack of power or will from
God to save, heal and deliver, but the sinfulness of many of God’s
children. Whenever there is sin among God’s people, the power
of God is restrained. Sin breaks our relationship with God and gives
Satan power to afflict us. When we live in sin, we take ourselves away
from the covering of God and expose ourselves to the assaults of the
Devil. But when we return to God in repentance and cry unto Him for
help, He is quick to hear, save and deliver us.
Today, turn to God in true penitence and ask Him to forgive you for
all your misdoings. Cry unto him for help and deliverance and he will
visit you and manifest His miracle working power in you and through
you.
Pray: Lord,
remember me in your mercy. Release Your miracle working power in my
life. Help me to always overcome.
