FULL OF THE
POWER BY THE SPIRIT
Key Passage: Micah
3: 8-9, 12
But truly I am full of power by the Spirit of
the LORD, and of justice and might, to declare to Jacob his transgression
and to Israel his sin. Now hear this, you heads of the house of
Jacob and rulers of the house of Israel, who abhor justice and
pervert all equity, therefore because of you Zion shall be plowed
like a field, Jerusalem shall become heaps of ruins, and the mountain
of the temple like the bare hills of the forest.
The voice of power is the greatest voice on the earth.
It speaks louder than words. Even the deaf hears it and the stubborn
obeys it, because power compels obedience and enforces compliance.
The power of God is above every power. All that exist, both in heaven
and on earth were made by it. By it is our world sustained, and by
it shall it be destroyed.
The Holy Spirit is the person in the Godhead that holds and releases
the power of God. He is the one that inspires the prophets to speak
either in blessing to those whose ways are pleasing to God or in judgment
to those whose ways are contrary to His will; and what they speak come
to pass.
Micah was a prophet to a reprobate generation in Israel. The people
had turned away from God and their leaders were corrupt and immoral.
They promoted unrighteousness, oppressed the poor and forbade the prophets
from speaking against their evil deeds. But Micah was bold to pronounce
judgment on them by the Spirit of God. He declared that their land
shall be devastated by invaders, and they shall call on God to save
them, but He will not listen. He also prophesied restoration for the
remnant that would turn to the Lord.
The Spirit of God is speaking to us today to turn away from sin and
return to God. We are constantly being tempted to depart from God,
but the Spirit of God is calling us to stand. The Holy Spirit will
give us the power to stand in righteousness if we determine, and the
blessings of God will be ours when we do. Then God will be an enemy
to our enemies (Ex 23:22), and all that had devoured our lives, our
families and our finances shall be devoured by God.
Pray: Lord,
forgive me for all my sins and turn away Your anger and judgment from
me. Stretch out Your hand of blessings over me and establish me in
your righteousness.
