LOOK TO THE ROCK

Key Passage: Is 51: 1-2

"Listen to Me, you who follow after righteousness, you who seek the LORD: Look to the rock from which you were hewn, and to the hole of the pit from which you were dug. Look to Abraham your father, and to Sarah who bore you; for I called him alone, and blessed him and increased him."

God’s word of encouragement is going out to those who will listen to His voice, who will seek to please Him and who will seek an intimate relationship with Him. He is saying, “Look to the Rock from which you were cut out.” God wants us to look back to our root. When we see where God brought us from we can have a better understanding of where He is taking us to. When we consider the life of Abraham and Sarah, we will realize that God never disappoints those that put their trust in Him. When God called Abraham, he had no son, and his household was small. However, God blessed and prospered him according to the promise He made to him. He bore a son in his old age and became the father, not only of the Jewish race, but also of all those are justified by God through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.

The secret of Abraham’s greatness was in his intimate personal relationship with God. He served God with a true heart and was ready to do anything to please Him. God made a covenant with him and promised to bless the nations of the world through him (Gen 12:1-3). His absolute obedience to God and resilient faith in His promise made his life and testimony strong and solid like a rock. This became a model for all who would serve God righteously and faithfully.

God wants you to trust Him. He did not take you out of sin and shame to abandon you the way you came. He will surely bless, prosper and establish you until you become great. He did it for Abraham and his descendants (Gen 26:12-14) and will surely do it for you who have become a child of Abraham by faith (Gal 3:6-9).

Pray, O Lord, teach me to serve you righteously and faithfully; bless and prosper me, and turn around every negative situation around me, in Jesus name.
