GOD’S MATCHLESS GOODNESS

Key Passage: Deuteronomy 11: 10-12

"For the land which you go to possess is not like the land of Egypt from which you have come, where you sowed your seed and watered it by foot, as a vegetable garden; but the land which you cross over to possess is a land of hills and valleys, which drinks water from the rain of heaven, a land for which the LORD your God cares; the eyes of the LORD your God are always on it, from the beginning of the year to the very end of the year.”

God is good. His love for us, His people, is overwhelming, and His mercy is everlasting (Ps 100:5). His promise to us is that where we left to follow Him is incomparable to where He is taking us; and whatever we abandoned to serve Him cannot match what we will gain if we continue to serve Him faithfully. He is taking us to a very good place.

The people of Israel were in the wilderness when Moses the servant of the Lord brought them this message. They had left Egypt where they were under bondage; however, they were still far from the Promised Land. In the wilderness, they faced lots of harsh conditions. They journeyed for uncountable miles on bare foot, sometimes having no water or food. They faced hazards from bad weather, wild beasts and enemy nations. At some other times they were in confusion and despair. It seemed their sufferings were unending, and some of them were tempted to look back to Egypt. Then did Moses speak to reassure them that the land were the Lord was taking them was a goodly land; a land God Himself cares for and watches all the year.

God is reassuring you as His child that He cares for you. You have not made a mistake by forsaking the world to follow Him. Whatever you are going through now is temporary. God’s promises will be fulfilled in your life. He said, “For I know the plans I have for you … plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope”- Jer 29:11. His word says, “Oh, taste and see that the LORD is good; blessed is the man who trusts in Him!”- Ps 34:8. As you put your trust in Him and seek His face, you will see God do wonders in your life (Lam 3:25). God has never failed any man. He will not fail you.
