God desires His children to be people of vision
and progress. He also wants them to be ready to labor diligently
in the pursuit of their life vision (2 Thes 3:10). But the devil
is an enemy of progress (John 10:10). He brings setbacks, frustrations
and disappointments to destroy people’s vision and paralyze
their efforts at progress.
The Company of Prophets desired to have a better
place to leave. As they were cutting down a beam with which to build
their dream-house, the enemy struck - the ax head of one of them
fell into the river.
The man cried, “Alas!” That
is the voice of a drowning man - the deep cry of hopelessness and
helplessness. But Elisha, the servant of God, miraculously caused
the ax head to float. Then he told the hopeless apprentice-prophet, “Take
back your ax head.”
The Lord is asking you today, “Where is your
ax head?” - that instrument for building your dream. Many people
have lost their ax heads, either by their acts of negligence or through
an attack of the devil. However, as you cry out to God today, God
will miraculously restore yours. When a man loses his ax head, he
is incapacitated. Can you consider the condition of a doctor or a
lawyer with revoked license, or that of an artist with broken hands.
Those were rendered impotent by their circumstances, and that is
what the devil wants to do to you.
If you cannot see any progress in your life in the
next few years, then you may have lost your ax head. That may also
be the case if you are hopeless or fearful to step into your future.
However, I have good news for you. God is ready to restore your ax
head if you will cry out to him in faith. Blind Bartimaeus cried
out to Jesus. Jesus heard him and restored his sight. He will do
the same for you if you will cry out to him in faith today.
