God’s love and care for His children is very
deep and intimate and it can only be likened to the Tender Loving Care
of a mother to her little baby. Every mother is very precious in
the life of her child. She carry’s the baby in her womb for
about 9 months. Inside her womb, the baby is nourished through her
umbilical cord. The delivery comes with great birth pangs, which
she must go through to be a mother. At delivery, the umbilical cord
is cut, but the baby is still fed and nourished from the mother’s
breast. It clings so strongly as she sucks, sometimes digging its
nails into her body. She dangles it in her arms to comfort it when
it is crying and gently cleans it up when it messes up itself. She
hears her faintest cry and seeks to satisfy all its needs. No wonder
the great attachment between mothers and their children.
God’s attachment to us His children is even
stronger. His breath gave man life in the beginning. When we were
lost in our own ways through sin, he sought for us as a good shepherd,
found us, cleaned us up and called us His own. The precious blood
of His dear Son, Jesus, was the price He paid to set us free. It
is wonderful that though God is our Father, yet He loves and cares
for us like a mother. He nourishes, guides, protects and preserves
us and provides for all our needs. He knows our pains and comforts
us in our grief. He hears our faintest cry and treats us with loving-kindness.
He has promised never to leave or forsake us. He said, "Can
a woman forget her nursing child, And not have compassion on the
son of her womb? Surely they may forget, yet I will not forget you" (Is
49:15).
In Genesis 17:1, God appeared to Abraham and said, "I
am Almighty God." That is the revelation of God as the
El Shaddai – the All-sufficient God; the One that is more
than enough. The literal meaning of the Hebrew word "El Shaddai" paints
the picture of God as the Double Breasted One. That reveals God
as the All Sufficient Life-giver who feeds His children just as
a mother feeds her child with breast milk for life, strength and
nourishment. It is a well-known fact that the breast milk of a
mother is sufficient for all the nutritional needs of a child.
So is the tender loving care of our God. He is our good Shepherd
and we shall not want (Ps 23:1).
Pray that you may experience the
tender loving care of the Lord God Almighty. Pray for
all mothers, especially for those at the troubled spots of the world.
