Key Passage: Luke
9:
1-4
Then Jesus entered and passed through Jericho.
Now behold, there was a man named Zacchaeus who was a chief tax
collector, and he was rich. And he sought to see who Jesus was,
but could not because of the crowd, for he was of short stature.
So he ran ahead and climbed up into a sycamore tree to see Him,
for He was going to pass that way.
A broken vessel may be a waste in the eyes of men,
but not in God’s. In His eyes, brokenness is beauty, because
the broken vessel is pliable in His hands, as the Almighty Porter.
The most attractive people to God are those that are humble and broken
(Ps 51:17; Isa 66:2). God cannot get past them without turning.
Zacchaeus was a short man in a tall generation. He could not match
his contemporaries in stature. However, he decided not to be arrogant
about his high social and economic status. He humbled himself, ran
ahead and climbed a tree to see Jesus. His humble attitude caught
Jesus’ attention. He stopped, called him and went with him
to his home. What a way to win God’s attraction.
Moses was the most humble in his generation (Num 12:3). Little wonder
he had power with God. King David humbled himself and danced with
all his might before God (2 Sam 6:14,21-22). God established his
kingdom, giving him rest round about (2 Sam 7:1).
The Scripture says, "God resists the proud, but gives grace
to the humble" – Jam 4:6. The way of humility and brokenness
is a direct path to God’s honor and favor. Step into it today
and determine to walk in it daily, and you will experience the power
of God taking you to realms you never imagined.
Prayer: Lord, help me to recognize your workings in my life; make
me that broken vessel you want to use for your name’s sake.
