If
We Must Succeed
Key Passage: Luke
14: 28-30
"For
which of you, intending to build a tower, does not sit
down first and count the cost, whether he has enough to
finish it — lest, after he has laid the foundation,
and is not able to finish, all who see it begin to mock
him, saying, ‘This man began to build and was not
able to finish.’”
In life, it is easier to be a failure than a success.
Our world is full of people who had endeavors, but who never saw
them to fruitful conclusions. However, there are many others who
succeed. We need to understand why some people fail while others
succeed, and know what we need if we must succeed.
In the above passage, Jesus thought his disciples a basic truth about translating
ones dream to reality. He said that a reasonable person will definitely consider
what it will take to complete a project before beginning the work, but one
who does not consider this, will end up a mockery.
The life and ministry of Jesus is the greatest success story. He lived for
33½ years, of which three and a half were committed to his ministry
on earth. And within that period, he imparted more lives than any person
in all ages, and he succeeded in establishing God’s Kingdom in the
hearts of men. His success was due to, not just because of who he is, but
because of the principles he lived by and the way he pursued his vision.
Jesus lived by principles that were irreproachable. He lived by the truth,
walked in absolute righteousness and was always in touch with the Father
in prayer. He never lost focus on his mission. He pursued this mission vigorously,
touching lives, reviving souls, feeding the hungry and establishing the rule
of God, with signs and wonders following (Acts 10:38).
We, believers, ought to follow the footsteps of Jesus, if we must succeed
in our lives. We need to strive to understand God’s purpose for our
lives and learn to plan for our success. There is a wise saying that he who
fails to plan has planned to fail. We must learn to set goals for our lives
and pursue them with vigor. We must strive to do whatever it takes to succeed,
and do it right (Eccl 9:10; Col 3:23). We should always aim for the pinnacle
and strive to be the best, trusting in the power of God to help us. We are
true sons of God through faith in the Lord Jesus Christ, and we have no reason
to fail. Pray – Lord, help me to understand your purpose for my life
and to be a success in my entire life endeavor.
