Each of us on earth has a day of accountability when we will stand
before God and answer for the life we are living on earth. The
result of that exercise will determine where and how each of us
will spend eternity; and the verdict of that exercise is irreversible.
That is the reason every one of us ought to ensure that he or she
              spends his life wisely.
Human wisdom and ability are limited. Man cannot fully direct
himself (Jer 10:23). He needs the help of the Only Wise God (Rom
16:27), the Almighty. The Psalmist rightly prayed, “Teach
us to number our days ….” He knew how transient
life on earth is, and he did not want to waste it in frivolities
and vanities. He needed wisdom to live a fruitful and a fulfilled
life. In Psalm 143 verse 10, he prayed, “Teach me to
do Your will, For You are my God; Your Spirit is good. Lead me
in the land of uprightness”. He needed God as his mentor
to lead and guide him in the right path. In Psalm 25 verses 4 and
5, he prayed, “Show me Your ways, O LORD; Teach me Your
paths. Lead me in Your truth and teach me, For You are the God
              of my salvation.”
Man has a short lifespan on earth and every of his life endeavor
needs to be accomplished within that timeframe. The Psalmist said, “Remember
how short my life is, how empty and futile this human existence!
No one can live forever; all will die. No one can escape the power
of the grave” (TLB Ps 89:47-48).
We need the help of the Almighty in every area of our lives to
fulfill the purpose of our existence. We were created to fulfill
God’s pleasure (Rev 4:11). It is only the life that satisfies
the desire of God that is the life well lived. The wise King Solomon
said, “Now all has been heard; here is the conclusion
of the matter: Fear God and keep His commandments, for this is
the whole duty of man. For God will bring every deed into judgment,
including every hidden thing, whether it is good or evil” (NIV
              Eccl 12:13-14).
             Pray, Lord,
give me the wisdom and grace to live a fruitful and a fulfilling
life; teach me to do your will that my life may glorify you
