Each day we wake up alive, we should thank and praise God for
His mercy and faithfulness. It is not all that go to bed at night
that wake up in the morning, neither is it all that set out on
journeys that arrive at their destinations safely. The gift of
life is a great privilege from God, because it offers us the opportunity
to honor and praise God for His manifold goodness and love.
King Hezekiah was sick unto death, and he turned his face towards
the wall and prayed. He reminded God of his faithful walk with
Him, and cried to God to heal him, and He did. He then wrote this
song in praise and thanksgiving to God for His mercy and love,
and said, “For the grave cannot praise thee, death can not
celebrate thee: they that go down into the pit cannot hope for
thy truth. The living, the living, he shall praise thee” (KJV).
Death is man’s enemy (1 Cor 15: 26). It has terminated the
destiny of many and swallowed up their visions and dreams. When
a person dies, he can no longer praise God and testify of His marvelous
works (Is 6: 5). It is only the living that can praise God on the
earth.
We should continually thank and praise God because he has given
us the privilege and enablement so to do. We should call on Him
to heal us when we are afflicted. Our death or infirmity does not
profit Him (Ps 30: 9). He created us for His praise and wants us
to live to show it forth (Ps 43: 21). He paid a great price to
purchase our healing and to deliver us from death (1 Pet 2: 24;
1 Cor 6: 20). He wants us to enjoy life in its fullness so that
everything in us could praise Him. There is no greater sacrifice
that we could render to Him than the sacrifice of our lips (Heb
13: 15). We should do this with all our heart, soul and mind. That
is why we were made, and it is in so doing that we will be fulfilled.
Thank and Praise God for the gift of life. Pray that He will give
you sound health, that everything in you may praise Him continually
all the days of your life.
