Week 33: August 9 - 15, 2004

When the Heaven Becomes Brass Part 2

Key Passage: Isaiah 60: 2; 25: 6-7

For behold, the darkness shall cover the earth, and deep darkness the people; But the LORD will arise over you, and His glory will be seen upon you.

And in this mountain The LORD of hosts will make for all people a feast of choice pieces, a feast of wines on the lees, of fat things full of marrow, of well-refined wines on the lees. And He will destroy on this mountain the surface of the covering cast over all people, and the veil that is spread over all nations.

There are seasons of drought that come as attacks from the kingdom of darkness, and results in unusual obstacles, setbacks, disappointments and bad fortunes. We need to realize that there is a spiritual side to our world. The Scripture reveals that we wrestle against principalities, powers, the rulers of darkness of this age and against spiritual hosts of wickedness in heavenly places (Eph 6: 12). These are hierarchies of fallen angels operating with Satan to frustrate and destroy the lives and fortunes of the people in the earth, including God’s people.

Our world is under siege from these spirits from the dark kingdom, precipitating the “darkness” and the “deep darkness” prophesied by Isaiah, which describes an invasion from the kingdom of darkness that will occur in this end times. Little wonder the increased level of Satanism, occultism, idolatry, witchcraft, sorcery, divination and such like, and the high level of moral baseness, perversion, delinquency and false liberty which have spread a dark veil over the world today. The attacks mount in different forms against individuals, families and communities, resulting in stagnation, setbacks, unexpected disappointments and unanswered prayers.

Daniel’s heaven was locked up because the Prince of Persia (a spiritual personality) withstood the angel that had the answer to his prayers. He continued in prayer and fasting for twenty-one days before he got his breakthrough (Dan 10: 2-13). That incident should be an eye opener to us on the reality of our spiritual conflict with the kingdom of darkness. We should therefore arise in strength and power, and war in prayer against these forces. Jesus gave his disciples authority to cast out evil spirits (Matt 10: 1; Mk 16: 17). We need to awake and destroy “the covering” and “the veil” spread over us by the kingdom of darkness and keep our heaven open for the outpouring of the blessings of the Almighty.

Pray - In Jesus name, I challenge and destroy every power that stands on my way of progress and declare seasons of unbounded blessings and success in my life and in that of my family and community.
