Key Passage: Micah
3:
8-12
But truly I am full of power by the Spirit
of the LORD, and of justice and might, to declare to Jacob
his transgression
and to Israel his sin. Now hear this, you heads of the house
of Jacob and rulers of the house of Israel, who abhor justice
And pervert all equity, who build up Zion with bloodshed and
Jerusalem with iniquity: Her heads judge for a bribe, Her priests
teach for pay, And her prophets divine for money. Yet they lean
on the LORD, and say, "Is not the LORD among us? No harm
can come upon us." Therefore because of you Zion shall be
plowed like a field, Jerusalem shall become heaps of ruins, and
the mountain of the temple like the bare hills of the forest.
Power is a great voice on the earth. It speaks
louder than words. Even the deaf hears the voice of power, and
the stubborn obeys its command. It is not easy for one to resist
power, because power compels compliance.
God is the source of true power. He created the world by His power,
and by the same He sustains it. By His power He establishes His
rule over the whole earth to bring goodness to His people and judgment
and destruction to the wicked. He also releases His power through
His Spirit to His servants to declare His righteousness and exercise
His authority upon the earth.
The generation of Micah was corrupt and immoral. The people forsook
God and wallowed in idolatry. Their leaders persecuted the poor
and perverted justice. They filled the land with violence and corruption,
and they despised God.
God raised Micah as a prophetic voice and empowered Him by His
Spirit to declare to the people the judgment of God for their sins.
He was bold to confront their prophets, their priests and their
leaders with their wrongdoings. He knew that his message was true
and he was endued by the Spirit of God to declare judgment upon
them.
That same power is available to you as a child of God if you will
surrender yourself to the Lord and yield absolutely to His Spirit
to use you as a vessel in our present corrupt and immoral world.
Jesus said, "But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit
has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem,
and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth" (Act
1:8). This is the power to preach the message of God’s righteousness
with boldness to a godless and unbelieving generation, and declare
God’s supreme authority over every work of darkness.
Pray: Almighty Father, fill me with Your Holy Spirit and enable me
to proclaim Your Word with power, in Jesus name.
