Key Passage: 1
Samuel 16: 11-13
And Samuel said to Jesse, "Are all the
young men here?" Then he said, "There remains yet the
youngest, and there he is, keeping the sheep." And Samuel
said to Jesse, "Send and bring him. For we will not sit
down till he comes here." So he sent and brought him in.
Now he was ruddy, with bright eyes, and good-looking. And the
LORD said, "Arise, anoint him; for this is the one!" Then
Samuel took the horn of oil and anointed him in the midst of
his brothers; and the Spirit of the LORD came upon David from
that day forward.
There is a lion in a cub and an eagle in an eaglet,
though people may not recognize them. It only takes time; process
and the right influence for the cub to emerge as the king of the
beasts, and the eaglet as the king of birds. In the same vain,
there is something great God has designed for your life. It will
time, process and the right influence for that to emerge.
No one gave David a chance to become the King
of Israel. His father and brothers even neglected, sidelined and
despised him. But when
David appeared, God said to Samuel, "Arise, anoint him; for
this is the one!"
There are many men today who have lived all their
lives without recognizing, talk less of becoming, what God created
them to be.
Many are neglected, sidelined and oppressed by people who do
not believe they will amount to anything thing in life; while others
are frustrated by difficult life circumstances. Some have even
given up hope and resigned to failure and defeat.
But the good news is that God has destined all
His children for greatness (Rom 8:29-30). His plan and purpose
for you is to prosper
and succeed in your life endeavor. The Scripture says that what
you shall be has not been fully revealed. It will take time;
process and the right influence in your life for it emerge.
Through the anointing, Samuel identified and
activated in David the grace, wisdom and power that took him to
the throne. That brought
him victory over the lion, the bear and the giant. It brought
him through the wilderness, until he sat on the throne as King
of Israel.
You need such influence in your life to bring out the king in you.
Pray Lord,
help me to recognize that I am a man of destiny; direct me to the
people who you will use to impart in me the grace, wisdom
and power that will take me to the throne.
Pray for all fathers,
that they arise as true kings in their personal lives, their
families, their churches and their communities.
