Jesus is the Son of God. He came into the world
as a man, but lived in absolute victory over sin, Satan and the world.
He was most humble, gentle and kind, but exercised mastery over the
powers of darkness and the powers of nature that even the wind and
the sea obeyed him. He was tempted on every side, but he did not
sin. He was opposed, abused and falsely accused and yet he did not
retaliate. He was humiliated, brutally beaten and wrongly condemned
to be crucified, but he forgave his persecutors. He died and was
buried, but he rose again on the third day to demonstrate his Lordship
over the living and the dead. He ascended into heaven and reigns,
seated at the right hand of God. He is the one calling you to come
to him, take his yoke on you and learn from him.

A yoke is a wooden bar that holds a pair of oxen together by the
neck as they pull the plow. The yoke makes the oxen to share the
burden of their labor and helps synchronize their movement as they
work. That yoke represents submission to the will of God which
is also typified by the cross of Christ.
Jesus is calling you to be the other pair in his yoke so that
you and he can pull together in the labor of life. His yoke is
easy (wholesome and easy to be borne -Amp B) because he pulls it
with you. Life on the earth is full of uncertainties, and many
life storms arise unannounced. You need a Helper and Partner who
overcame every trial, provocation, affliction, and even death,
and remains alive and victorious. He is saying, “Come
to me! Take my yoke on you and learn from me.”
The emblem of Christ is humility and obedience. He was gentle,
lowly and loving. He lived his life in service and gave himself
as a sacrifice to others. What a wonderful example for our imitation.
He told his disciples, “Whoever desires to come after Me,
let him deny himself, and take up his cross, and follow Me” (Mk
              8:34).
At the end of his life on earth, God exalted him to the highest
Heaven and set him on His right hand. That same wonderful rest
and rapture Jesus promises, both in this world and in the world
to come, to all who are yoked together with him - for “if
we have a part in his pain, we will in the same way have a part
in his glory” (Rom 8:17 BBE).
            Pray: Lord Jesus, I surrender
my life in obedience to you. Stand by me, and help me to overcome
                the storms of life.
