Key Passage: Matthew
11: 28
“Come to Me, all you who labor and are
heavy-laden {and} overburdened, and I will cause you to rest.
[I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.]” Amp

Our Master and Savior, Jesus Christ, is stretching out his hands
to everyone that is burdened or is hurting to come to him for
comfort and rest.
There is a deep longing in the soul of every man for hope, love,
peace and rest. These are very precious treasures which many
have pursued in the world but have not gained. The world cannot
offer these because it is full of wickedness, greed, hate, deception,
injustice and prejudice. The world takes more than it gives and
does not give without strings attached. That is because the natural
man is self-centered and wants to satisfy his desires at the
expense of the needs and comfort of others. The effects have
been brutal on many who have been left deeply wounded and traumatized.
Some have as a result relapsed into grief, sorrow and depression,
while other has turn back with anger, hate and vengeance. But
it is obvious that none of these can truly satisfy the longing
of the soul.
Jesus is the only one who can satisfy the inner
longing of a man’s soul. He gives hope, love, peace and rest,
and not as the world gives. He gives peace that surpasses all
understanding (Phil 4:7). He gives life in its fullness (Jn 10:10).
He spent
his life on earth doing good and healing all that
were oppressed by the Devil (Acts 10:38). At the end of his earthly
ministry,
he offered his life freely as a sacrifice to redeem
man from
sin and secure his eternal salvation. He arose from
death and ascended to Heaven where he sits at the right hand of
God as
our eternal Mediator, Intercessor and High Priest
Jesus is now calling: “Come to me. Lay your burdens on
me and I will carry them. Cast your fears and tears on me and
I will protect and comfort you. Trust and obey me and I will
never leave or forsake you. Lean on me and I will carry you.” He
is saying, “Why spend money on what is not
bread, and your labor on what does not satisfy? Listen,
Listen to me, and eat
what is good, and your soul will delight in the richest
of fare (Is 55:2-NIV).
Accept him today as your Lord and Helper; call him into your
situation, and you will experience his power to save and deliver
you.
Pray: Lord, I put my hands in You hands; help me and lift
me out of every pit where I have fallen; deliver
me from every sorrow and pain that my soul may praise you while
I live. Amen
